Prep work, done right.
How will you clean and degrease the cabinets before painting?+
I thoroughly clean and degrease all cabinet surfaces using Krud Kutter and Scotch-Brite pads to remove grease, oils, waxes, and contaminants before any sanding or primer is applied.
Will you sand the cabinets or use a liquid deglosser?+
I mechanically scuff sand all surfaces with 220-grit sandpaper. I do not rely on liquid deglossers as a substitute for proper surface preparation.
Will you fill nail holes, dents, or scratches?+
Yes. Any nicks, dents, scratches, or other imperfections I find are repaired using Bondo Spot Putty before priming.
Will you remove all doors, drawers, hinges, and hardware before painting?+
Absolutely. Every project is completely disassembled. Doors, drawer fronts, hinges, handles, and all removable hardware are taken off before refinishing begins.
Will the doors and drawers be sprayed off-site or in my garage?+
All doors and drawer fronts are sprayed off-site in my professional spray booth to provide a cleaner environment and a higher-quality factory-like finish.

What primer will you use?+
Depending on the cabinet material and existing finish, I use Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer, INSL-X STIX, or BIN Shellac Primer. I choose the primer that provides the best adhesion and stain blocking for your specific cabinets.
What cabinet paint do you recommend?+
I recommend Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel.
Why do you recommend Sherwin-Williams Emerald over Gallery Series or Benjamin Moore Advance?+
I've used all of them extensively. Emerald has consistently given me the best results. It offers excellent color consistency, cures into a very hard finish, is easier to touch up without obvious repair marks, and simply has the best feel and finish once cured.
How many coats of primer and paint are included?+
Cabinet frames receive one coat of primer followed by two finish coats. Doors and drawer fronts receive two coats of primer followed by two finish coats for maximum durability and coverage.

Will the cabinet frames be sprayed or brushed?+
I brush and roll the cabinet frames and spray both the front and back of all doors and drawer fronts.
Will the doors and drawer fronts be sprayed?+
Yes. Every door and drawer front is professionally spray finished in my dedicated spray booth.
Will there be brush marks?+
No noticeable brush marks. Sherwin-Williams Emerald levels exceptionally well, leaving the cabinet frames with a very smooth finish and only minimal texture that's difficult to notice.

How will you protect my floors, countertops, and appliances?+
I carefully mask and protect everything surrounding the cabinets using painter's tape, masking paper, and plastic sheeting before any work begins.
How will you keep dust to a minimum?+
Because the doors and drawer fronts are sanded and sprayed off-site, the majority of the dust and overspray stays out of your home. During on-site work, I clean as I go and take every precaution to keep dust to a minimum.
